Microsoft has announced a new feature for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, allowing them to stream select games they own via Xbox Cloud Gaming. This new capability means that players can access their personal game library and play cloud-playable titles on a variety of devices, even if those games are not part of the Game Pass Ultimate catalogue.
The feature is now available in all regions where Xbox Cloud Gaming is accessible and will soon be available on Xbox consoles and the Xbox app on Windows next year. With this update, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can stream more than 50 games, including popular titles like Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Baldur’s Gate 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022), Cyberpunk 2077, Dying Light 2 Stay Human, Hogwarts Legacy, NBA 2K25, Star Wars Outlaws, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and many others.
This move marks a significant expansion of Xbox’s Cloud Gaming service, which previously only allowed Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream titles available within the Game Pass library. Now, subscribers can stream any version of the games they own, whether it’s the standard edition or special deluxe versions. For example, users can stream Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, providing a new level of flexibility for those who have built up an extensive digital library.
Ashley McKissick, Corporate Vice President of Xbox Experiences and Platforms Engineering, commented, “Our library of cloud-playable titles will continue to grow, as we work with our partners around the world to bring you a diverse and expansive selection of great games across devices.”
How to Stream Your Games
To access this feature on various devices, including PCs, smartphones, tablets, handheld devices, and more, players need to follow a few simple steps:
- Navigate to the Xbox Cloud Gaming website: Visit https://xbox.com/play using a supported web browser, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Apple Safari.
- Sign in to your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership: Ensure that you’re logged into your Game Pass account to gain access to the streaming feature.
- Look for the “Stream Your Own Game” section: This section will highlight the games that are currently available for streaming, as well as other titles you can stream after purchasing them.
- Connect a supported controller or gamepad: Use a compatible controller, such as an Xbox controller, to start streaming your games.
For those who wish to stream on smart TVs or Amazon Fire devices, the Xbox app is required, and streaming on Meta Quest devices will need the Xbox Cloud Gaming app.
Expanding Access Across Devices
The new cloud-streaming feature offers Xbox players a greater sense of flexibility, allowing them to play their games across multiple devices without needing to be tethered to a specific console. For example, players can now seamlessly continue their game from a console to their PC or even to a mobile device while on the move, giving them the freedom to enjoy their games anywhere, at any time.
This enhancement also solidifies Xbox Cloud Gaming’s role as a strong competitor in the cloud gaming space, putting it in direct competition with other services such as Nvidia GeForce Now and Google Stadia. Microsoft’s move to allow users to stream their personal libraries adds significant value to the Game Pass Ultimate subscription and gives subscribers more reasons to embrace the platform.
A Growing Library of Cloud-Playable Titles
With over 50 games currently available for streaming, Microsoft has committed to expanding its cloud-playable library. Xbox users can look forward to more titles being added in the future, increasing the breadth of games available for streaming. Whether it’s single-player RPGs like Final Fantasy VI or multiplayer shooters like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Xbox Cloud Gaming continues to offer a wide variety of genres and titles to cater to diverse tastes.
This update further enhances Xbox’s push into cloud gaming, which has grown in popularity as internet speeds improve and as more players seek the convenience of gaming without the need for physical hardware. For Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, this new feature provides added value, allowing them to enjoy their existing game libraries while reaping the benefits of Microsoft’s growing cloud gaming infrastructure.
As cloud gaming becomes a central part of the gaming experience, Xbox continues to push the envelope, providing users with more options, greater flexibility, and seamless integration across devices. Whether you’re at home or on the go, Xbox Cloud Gaming now makes it easier than ever to stay connected to your games.
