The first image has been released of Nash Clyne, 33, who tragically lost his life in a violent attack near barber shops in Acton, west London. Originally from Grenada, Mr. Clyne was found with severe injuries in the early hours of Sunday morning, prompting a major police investigation.
Witnesses recounted harrowing scenes as Mr. Clyne was reportedly chased by a gang armed with weapons, including a tomahawk axe and broken bottles. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that three others sustained injuries during the incident, though none are considered life-threatening.
Tributes to nash clyne
Shevonte Thomas, a school friend of Mr. Clyne, expressed disbelief and sorrow at the news, describing him as “a great, cool guy” and a devoted father of three. “He liked cooking and playing football when we were young. I don’t know how this could have happened,” he said.
Local residents described Mr. Clyne as a father figure in the community, someone many looked up to.
Scene of the attack
The area around Birkbeck Road, close to Acton Central railway station, remains cordoned off as police investigate the circumstances of the attack. A witness described the chaos, saying, “He had an injury above his eyebrow. Others chasing him had bottles. They were really going for him. As they were attacking him, I was on the phone to the police.”
Another resident noted that a birthday party had taken place at a nearby barber shop before the violence erupted.
Possible gunshots and community impact
The incident has sparked speculation that shots may have been fired. Several residents reported hearing gunfire, although this has not yet been confirmed by police. “It’s left the area in absolute chaos,” said a long-term resident.
Many locals expressed concern about rising violence in what was once considered a quiet neighbourhood. “I’ve lived here for 20 years, and my partner for 40 years. This is the first time we’ve seen a crime like this,” one neighbour said.
Another resident added: “This was a very quiet area, but not anymore. Everything is changing, and it feels dangerous.”
Police investigation and appeal
Detectives are working to determine the full sequence of events, including what weapons were used and the motive behind the attack. An increased police presence is expected in Acton over the coming days.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, leading the investigation, stated:
“We are in the early stages of our investigation, and my team of experienced detectives is working at pace to establish why Nash was murdered and bring those responsible to justice.
“We particularly want to hear from anyone who was at the Front Line Cuts or Paradise Cuts barber shops on Acton High Street between 10:00 pm on Saturday and 4:30 am on Sunday.”
Call for witnesses
The Met Police is urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward. Detective Howie stressed that even seemingly insignificant details could prove vital to solving the case.
Community reacts
Residents near the crime scene are grappling with the shock of such a brutal attack in their neighbourhood. “It’s scary to think this could happen here,” said one local shop worker.
For now, Acton mourns the loss of Nash Clyne, a man remembered as a beloved community member and devoted father, as detectives continue their pursuit of justice.
