Indian Student Killed, Four Injured in Leicestershire Car Crash
A 32-year-old Indian student from Andhra Pradesh, Chiranjeevi Panguluri, tragically lost his life in a road accident in Leicestershire, England, on Tuesday morning. Panguluri was a passenger in a grey Mazda 3 Tamura, which crashed into a ditch while travelling from Leicester to Market Harborough. The incident occurred on the A6 road, and Panguluri was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash also left four other individuals, including the driver, injured. Among them were a woman and two men, who were taken to hospital with serious injuries. However, their conditions have been described as non-life-threatening. The driver, also involved in the crash, was hospitalised, though details of his injuries have not been disclosed. All the individuals involved in the incident are reported to be from Andhra Pradesh.
Leicestershire Police, who attended the scene, confirmed that the vehicle left the road for reasons still under investigation. The police statement stated that the vehicle was heading county-bound from Leicester when it left the road and ended up in a ditch. Authorities are now appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the collision or have dashcam footage to come forward.
A 27-year-old man, believed to be the driver of the vehicle, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was later released while the police investigation continues.
The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief and condolences from the Indian community, particularly from Andhra Pradesh, as many of the people involved in the crash hailed from the same state. Chiranjeevi Panguluri’s death has been met with shock, as he was reportedly living in Leicester while pursuing studies.
Local authorities are urging anyone who was travelling along the A6 route early on Tuesday to contact them if they have any information that could assist in the investigation. The police have also requested people with dashcam footage of the area to check if they may have inadvertently captured the incident or the moments leading up to it.
The loss of Chiranjeevi Panguluri is a tragic reminder of the risks faced by motorists, particularly during early morning hours. The local community, along with the international students in the area, are left to mourn the untimely passing of a promising young man who was pursuing his education abroad.
As investigations continue, authorities in Leicestershire have committed to ensuring that justice is served for Panguluri’s death, while also providing support to those who survived the crash, who are still recovering in hospital.
The fatal accident highlights the importance of road safety and serves as a reminder to drivers to remain vigilant and responsible behind the wheel, especially in adverse conditions.
