Seven-member committee started to arrange the destiny of former PTI leaders, articulate sources
ISLAMABAD: Jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan will determine about the rescue of ex-members to the party fold after being liberated from the penitentiary, Geo News notified citing sources amid statements of deserters’ willingness to join again.
Until then, he has suspended the retrieval of those who parted paths with the one-time ruling party, sources counted.
A host of PTI leaders carried back-to-back press conferences telling dissociation with the PTI after an issue was pitched allegedly interested in the damaging happenings of May 9 started by Khan’s detention in a debauchery case.
However shortly, along with the February 8 elections, news appeared that some traitors expected to rejoin the party’s echelon once more, but the PTI administration categorically declined to take anyone back.
PTI leader Hammad Azhar on December 26, 2023, claimed that most of the ex-PTI leaders who were “forced” to hold press conferences to announce their breaking away from the party were willing to return.
“The majority of those who were forced to hold press conferences wish to return to the party. PTI founder Imran Khan will personally decide on the return of these individuals on a case-to-case basis,” Azhar expressed in a tweet.
As the announcements of PTI defectors “willingness to return started circulating, a seven-member committee was formed on the orders of the party founder, which would decide the fate of the former members” reciprocate to the party fold.
Sources claimed, “that the committee will be led by PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and comprise Asad Qaiser, Hamid Khan, Shehryar Afridi, Barrister Gohar, and Shibli Faraz,” the sources communicated.
They articulated, “The body would send a list of final names to the PTI founder who would decide between them.”
However, they declared, “Shandana Gulzar will report on the PTI women’s cases as well as the leaders’ reasons behind quitting the party.”
