American pop sensation Chappell Roan has made history on the UK Singles Chart, replacing herself at number one with her latest release, The Giver.
The 27-year-old singer-songwriter, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, ventured into the country music genre for the first time with this track, which has now dethroned her previous hit Pink Pony Club from the top spot.
A personal connection to country music
Roan took to Instagram to share her excitement, revealing how deeply connected she feels to country music:
“We’ve never done a country song, and I have such a special place in my heart for country music. I grew up listening to it every morning and afternoon on my school bus and had it swirling around me at bonfires, grocery stores, and karaoke bars.”
Roan’s shift into country marks a new chapter in her already successful career, proving her versatility as an artist.
A meteoric rise to fame
After years of building a dedicated fanbase, Roan skyrocketed to stardom in 2024 when her song Good Luck, Babe! went viral following her performance at Coachella.
