Actor Aparshakti Khurana has been on a career high with notable performances, including his role in the hit film Stree 2 and his upcoming project Berlin. However, his journey in the film industry has not always been smooth, as he recently recalled an unsettling experience at a film’s trailer launch where he was prevented from sharing the stage with the lead cast by one of his co-stars.
In an interview with The Lallantop, Aparshakti was accompanied by his Berlin co-star Rahul Bose when the actor opened up about a difficult moment in his career. Without revealing the name of the co-star or the film, he recounted how, just minutes before a trailer launch event, he was informed that he would not be allowed to come on stage alongside the other actors. Aparshakti shared the incident, stating, “Trailer launch se teen minute pehle us actor ne ye bol diya producer ko ki, ‘Apar should not be on the stage. Baaki sab actor ko bula lijiye.’” (Three minutes before the trailer launch, that actor told the producer, ‘Apar should not be on stage. You can call all the other actors.’)
This incident happened after Aparshakti had worked hard on the film, feeling that the entire cast had done a commendable job. He had returned to Mumbai from a shoot in Amritsar specifically to attend the trailer launch and was eager to be part of the event. Dressed and ready for the occasion, Aparshakti was waiting near the aisle when a member of the public relations (PR) team approached him, informing him of “last-minute changes.” The actor was told that he would be introduced separately from the rest of the cast.
“I kept waiting; 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes—the entire trailer launch got over; people left,” Aparshakti revealed, describing how he was left standing there as the event unfolded without him. He admitted that it was an embarrassing and painful moment, especially because he had invested a lot of effort into the film and was excited to be part of its promotion. His co-star’s actions, he implied, were deliberate and unnecessary.
Reflecting on the incident, Aparshakti expressed how such experiences, though hurtful at the time, have shaped him. He acknowledged that everyone in the industry faces their share of challenges and “weird things” on set, as his Berlin co-star Rahul Bose mentioned during the conversation. Over the years, Aparshakti has reached a stage in his career where he has more say in the decisions made around him and a clearer understanding of his worth as an actor. “I now have a voice,” he remarked, emphasizing his growth since that difficult moment.
Despite this disheartening experience, Aparshakti remains focused on his work. His recent success in Stree 2, where he shared the screen with Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, earned him much love and appreciation from audiences. The horror-comedy film, a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, further solidified his reputation as a talented supporting actor capable of holding his own alongside the industry’s big names.
Looking ahead, Aparshakti is set to star in Berlin, a spy thriller that promises to showcase a different side of his acting abilities. Directed by Atul Sabharwal and co-starring Rahul Bose and Ishwak Singh, the film revolves around espionage and intrigue in the political landscape of Berlin. It is slated for release on September 13 on Zee5, and fans are eagerly awaiting Aparshakti’s performance in what is expected to be a gripping narrative.
Aparshakti’s experience of being sidelined at the trailer launch serves as a reminder of the challenges actors often face in the industry, despite their hard work and dedication. However, his resilience and success in recent projects highlight his ability to overcome obstacles and continue forging a successful path in Bollywood. With Berlin on the horizon and his career gaining momentum, Aparshakti Khurana is certainly a name to watch out for in the coming years.
