British singer-songwriter Joss Stone and her husband, Cody DaLuz, have joyfully expanded their family, now a family of five. On Monday, the 37-year-old Grammy-winning artist announced the adoption of their third child, Bear, in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“In Love Big Time”
Sharing her joy with fans, Stone posted a three-minute Instagram reel chronicling the couple’s adoption journey. “This is what happened to us last Monday. We cannot quite believe it. We are in love big time with this little guy,” she wrote.
Stone also highlighted the selfless love of Bear’s biological mother. “The reason why Cody even exists is because his biological mum loved him enough to make an adoption plan for him, and the same goes for Bear. Honestly, biological mothers do not get the gratitude they deserve,” she expressed.
The singer added, “It is a more selfless love than I knew existed. Truly. We are just so happy to be part of this beautiful cycle. Please welcome our gorgeous baby boy to this wonderful world.”
A Family Journey
The reel features touching moments as the couple prepared to bring Bear home, including a clip where DaLuz, 34, excitedly tells their two children, Violet, 3, and Shackleton, 2, about their new sibling. “We have a baby coming home,” he shares. Stone adds, “We can’t wait. We’re so excited.”
Their journey to meet Bear wasn’t without challenges. After mistakenly visiting the wrong hospital, they finally located the correct medical facility where they met their son for the first time. “We’re so happy you’re here. I love you,” DaLuz says while cradling Bear. “Isn’t he so sweet?” Stone remarks as she lovingly caresses the newborn.
Gratitude and Thanksgiving
Bear spent over a month in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), receiving care from dedicated nurses. Stone expressed her profound gratitude for their efforts. “These are the ladies that looked after him for the first 36 days of his life,” she captioned a series of photos featuring the NICU staff. “So much love in this hospital. Thank God for all of these beautiful angels.”
Stone shared that Bear made it home “just in time for Thanksgiving.” Reflecting on the experience, she wrote, “Forever grateful to his tummy mummy for giving him life and more selfless love than I thought was possible. Turns out dreams do come true.”
Past Trials and Triumphs
Stone’s journey to motherhood has been marked by both joy and heartbreak. After welcoming her daughter Violet in a challenging C-section delivery, Stone revealed she suffered a miscarriage in October 2021. She spoke candidly about the loss in an emotional Instagram video: “It was really horrible because it was my baby, and I know that a lot of women go through that. It was just hard.”
Despite the heartache, Stone found hope, later announcing her pregnancy with her son Shackleton, born in October 2022. “That’s the beautiful part of the story—that there are rainbows after storms,” she shared.
Sibling Bonds
In a 2022 interview, Stone described how Violet embraced her role as a big sister. “She is totally in love with him, always checking on him, giving him kisses and hugs, and constantly trying to sneak into his crib just so she can carefully sit next to him,” Stone said. “It is the sweetest thing to watch. Shack is a lucky guy to have such a loving sister.”
A Growing Family
With the addition of Bear, Stone and DaLuz’s family continues to grow, enriched by love, resilience, and gratitude. Their heartfelt adoption story has resonated with fans, exemplifying the beauty of family in all its forms.
