NEW YORK: Despite uncomfortable back-to-back losses Pakistan faced at the hands of the United States and India, fans still expect that the Babar Azam-led men will progress into the next round of the T20 World Cup.
On Tuesday, no doubt, a facile seven-wicket victory against Canada here at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium provided them with new expectations.
The recent situation for Pakistan on international occasions has been something like this: if India in their left Group A matches hits the US and Ireland and Pakistan conquers their last group match against Ireland, then the Green shirts have options to prepare for the Super Eight round of the 20-nation celebration.
Rabia Aftab, who visited Pakistan came from Michigan to verify Pakistan’s match against Canada, she claimed it very a pleasure to see Pakistan’s victory.
Another Pakistani supporter, Shiraz, claimed that he was still hoping the team to flourish at the international level.
She claimed that Pakistan lost a match to India, and she planned to come to Pakistan to support Pakistan.
On Tuesday, She claimed while discussing with Dawn, “I love Pakistan that’s why I am here to support my team,”
“Today, we won [against Canada]. I am super happy. Let’s hope for the best for Pakistan’s next match against Ireland,” he claimed further.
New York-based Pakistani-American, Abrar Shah who viewed Tuesday’s match together with his family, claimed that he was endowing Pakistan with heart and soul.
“Pakistan could have won comfortably against India [while chasing 120 for victory], but poor planning deprived us of the chance to celebrate,” he grumbled.
Mujtaba Ali claimed he was disappointed by Pakistan’s dishonorable six-run loss to India.
“Our bowlers did a great job against India, but the batters failed to grab this golden opportunity to beat India,” he informed Dawn. He gauged that, as an outcome, the Green shirts’ probabilities of qualifying for Super Eight looked small.
He described, “[But] still we are looking towards this team because we love Pakistan.”
