Jesy Nelson has shared an emotional update from her hospital bed as she continues to face a complicated pregnancy, revealing that she and partner Zion Foster are feeling “grateful and blessed” after a turbulent few weeks.
The former Little Mix star, 33, is currently expecting twins with musician Zion Foster, 26. The couple’s joy was tempered last month when Jesy disclosed that she had been diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a rare but serious condition affecting identical twins who share a placenta.
In a heartfelt post in March, Nelson revealed that both babies were “living off one placenta,” a situation that prompted emergency surgery. The singer, who has been open about the challenges of her pregnancy, has since been providing fans with regular updates on her condition.
Now, in a new Instagram video posted from her hospital room on Sunday, Jesy offered a more optimistic update. Cradling her bump, she shared: “We just wanted to come on here because we are another week further along, and we feel so grateful and blessed that these little babies are still going strong.”
The Boyz singer thanked her fans for their overwhelming support, saying: “We just wanted to thank you so much for all your supportive, beautiful messages. You guys have been so lovely; we’ve seen all of your lovely messages and stories, and it’s really helped us keep going.”
Despite remaining in hospital, Jesy maintained her trademark sense of humour, panning around the room and smiling: “We’re still in here! Hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine. Unfortunately, we can’t! Well, we can. I mean, Zion takes me out in the wheelchair down the road, but that’s as far as we can go.”
She ended the video by promising to keep fans informed as her pregnancy progresses, reinforcing the strength and positivity she has shown throughout.
Nelson had previously shared that her twins are monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA), meaning they share a single placenta but each has their own amniotic sac. This configuration puts the babies at greater risk of TTTS, which, according to the NHS, affects 10–15% of identical twin pregnancies with shared placentas.
TTTS is caused by abnormal blood vessel connections in the placenta, leading to an imbalance in blood flow between the twins. One baby, known as the donor, can become undernourished and anaemic, while the recipient may face complications due to receiving too much blood.
After a successful surgical intervention, Jesy confirmed last week that the TTTS had “cleared up,” giving both parents a welcome sense of relief.
Jesy’s pregnancy announcement in January delighted fans, as she shared a black-and-white photo of Zion placing his hand lovingly over her growing bump. Since then, the couple has been candid about both the highs and lows of expecting twins.
Nelson rose to fame in 2011 as one-fourth of the girl group Little Mix, alongside Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards, and Jade Thirlwall. The band was formed during the eighth series of The X Factor, and went on to become one of the most successful British girl groups of all time.
Jesy parted ways with the group in December 2020, citing the pressures of fame and the impact on her mental health. Since leaving Little Mix, she has focused on her solo career and personal wellbeing.
As she continues her hospital stay, fans and well-wishers have flooded social media with messages of support and encouragement. With her usual openness and resilience, Jesy’s latest update is yet another display of her strength and determination to bring her twins safely into the world.
