Reality star and beauty mogul Kylie Jenner is reportedly set to cover the funeral costs of her late hairstylist, Jesus Guerrero, following his sudden and unexpected passing.
Supporting a longtime friend
According to TMZ, Jenner, 26, has been working closely with Guerrero’s family to help transport his body back to his hometown of Houston, Texas. She is believed to have spent Sunday with his relatives, offering both emotional and financial support.
Guerrero, a well-respected hairstylist in the celebrity world, had been a close collaborator of Jenner’s since 2019. Over the years, he became a key member of her glam team, styling her hair for major events, photoshoots, and red-carpet appearances.
Despite Jenner’s reported assistance, Guerrero’s family has also set up a GoFundMe page to help with expenses. At the time of writing, the fundraiser has amassed $96,000 (£76,000), surpassing its initial goal.
Family’s heartfelt tribute
Guerrero’s younger sister, Gris, shared the heartbreaking news of his passing on Saturday, describing him as more than just a hairstylist. In her statement on the GoFundMe page, she wrote:
“My name is Gris, Jesus’s younger sister. It is with a heavy heart that we let the world know that Jesus Guerrero has gone to heaven. He is a son, a brother, an uncle, an artist, a friend, and so much more.”
She highlighted his background, growing up in Houston to immigrant parents, and how his dedication to his craft propelled him to work with some of the biggest names in the industry.
“Born and raised in Houston, TX, to immigrant parents, Jesus learned how to work hard and dreamt of taking his skills to the top. Unfortunately, his passing came very suddenly and unexpectedly. Currently, his family is taking care of his personal belongings and accommodations to bring him home to Houston.”
She concluded with a heartfelt appeal:
“We hope that you find it in your heart to help in any way and/or share this GoFundMe.”
Guerrero’s final days in Dubai
Guerrero’s passing came shortly after he had travelled to Dubai with another of his A-list clients, Jennifer Lopez. He had accompanied the superstar for her Saadiyat Nights concerts in Abu Dhabi last Thursday and Friday.
The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed.
A star-studded career
Guerrero was a highly sought-after hairstylist, working with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Katy Perry, Demi Moore, Addison Rae, and Dua Lipa.
Just last month, he joined Kylie Jenner in Paris as part of her glam team for Fashion Week. During their trip, Jenner attended the Chanel show and walked the runway for Jean Paul Gaultier. Guerrero shared a mirror selfie with the reality star on Instagram at the time, capturing a moment from their work together.
Two weeks before their Paris trip, he styled Jenner’s hair for her appearance at the Golden Globes, where she attended alongside her boyfriend, actor Timothée Chalamet.
Jenner had previously joked about one of Guerrero’s haircuts on Instagram, writing:
“@jesushair said he was giving me a trim and cut off all my hair.”
Friends mourn the loss
Guerrero’s passing has sent shockwaves through the beauty and entertainment industries, with many of his colleagues and friends paying tribute.
Ariel Tejada, Jenner’s longtime makeup artist and Guerrero’s frequent collaborator, shared an emotional post on Instagram, expressing his devastation over losing his close friend.
“Last night I experienced the most painful, breathtaking pain I have ever felt when I found out you left us @jesushair.”
Tejada described Guerrero as his “chosen family,” writing:
“Family is not always just assigned at birth; sometimes they are chosen, and you were my chosen family. I told you this many times before, I don’t know how I could have done the past 10 years of this whole journey without you, to which you would always reply saying, ‘I wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else.’ And now that you’re gone, I’m unsure how I will continue the same without you.”
He went on to say:
“You were my anchor, my rock, in every room we made magic in together. We were in sync on a level that only you and I will ever comprehend.”
Jenner yet to comment
As of now, Kylie Jenner has not publicly commented on Guerrero’s passing. The Standard has reached out to her representatives for a statement.
Guerrero’s impact on the industry, his talent, and his kindness are being remembered by those who knew him best. His sudden passing leaves a void in the world of celebrity hairstyling, and his legacy will continue to inspire those in the beauty industry.
