Employment of both ex-players ‘will no longer be required,’ claims PCB statement reported in The Tribune News.
In a consequential surprise, ex-cricketers Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq have been expelled from Pakistan’s cricket selection committee.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) declared the conclusion early Wednesday, 10th July 2024, noting the national team’s underpowered interpretation at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Pakistan’s premature portal from the match, yielding to extend beyond the group steps, stimulated the PCB to reconsider its preference approach.
“It has notified Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services will no longer be required in the national selection committee setup,” the PCB expressed in a press release.
Razzaq was employed on both the men’s and women’s select committees, whereas Riaz was implicated only with the men’s squad. The PCB confirmed that more descriptions concerning the contemporary formatting of the selection committee would be revealed momentarily.
The board still includes prominent personalities such as Mohammad Yousuf, Asad Shafiq, and Bilal Afzal, the team’s data analyst, as well as the head coaches and leaders of different configurations.
Observing Pakistan’s dismal performance during the T20 World Cup, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi forecasted that the national team would encounter consequential modifications.
“I thought the team required minor surgery to start winning matches but now it appears that we have to go for major surgery. It is very disappointing the way we lost to the USA and now this loss to India. We need to now start looking at players beyond those in the team right now,” he claimed.
He added, ” Everyone is asking why the team is not performing. The World Cup is still on. But obviously, we will sit down and take a look at everything.”
