The Critical Drinker, in his most recent review, savagely disapproves of “The Acolyte” Episode 6, describing it as a prime illustration of teh show’s numerous shortcomings that turn it into a “laughing stock”
He compares the show to an alcoholic failing to maintain sobriety or an abusive partner going back to their old behaviors, nothing that any little progress in the show is rapidly undone by its return to “horrendous writing” and a “nonsensical story”
The episode receives harsh criticism from The Critical Drinker for its clichéd narrative, awkward speech, and shoddy attempts at humor.
He points out that the language in teh episode is strained and cut off, giving the impression of suspense but offering little in the way of real development.
He claims that the characters drag out scenes by gradually revealing facts.
