The undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has announced his intention to fight the WBC and lineal heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury. The two giants agreed to box each other in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the 23rd day of December 2024 to resolve the business and establish who the real heavyweight champion is.
Usyk, who is known as a very skilled and intelligent boxer in the ring, has been looking forward to fighting Fury for a long time. During a recent interview, he sternly warned Fury and Anthony Joshua, declaring, “I want to fight both”. The Ukrainian champion has more than proved his worth following his two victories over Joshua and their acquisition of the WBA, IBF, WBO and The Ring heavyweight belts.
Fury, however, will be fighting for the third time since his controversial split decision against Francis Ngannou. Many have criticized the ‘Gypsy King’ for his inability to deliver a knockout against Ngannou.
Fury still has confidence in himself and is looking forward to fighting Usyk. It has been long overdue as previous attempts by promoters to put in place this fight have consistently failed. Nevertheless, given that there has been a verbal agreement, boxing followers are already looking forward to the encounter with the Titans.
The fight is nearing, and Usyk and Fury will be training hard to win. The winner of this bout will establish himself as the current undisputed champion and declare himself one of the greatest heavyweight boxers ever.
