During an episode of the “Squeeze” podcast with hosts, Taylor and Tay Lautner, Angel Carter – Aaron Carter’s twin sister shared the emotional toll of Aaron’s struggles and her attempts to support him in his battle of addiction.
Angel shared that she had been living with the fear of Aaron’s eventual death for many years. This fear intensified after the death of their older sister – Leslie. Who died in 2012 due to overdose.
“When she died, I was already in therapy preparing for Aaron’s death. I thought he was going to die. I feared it my entire 20s. I knew this day was going to come and I think he knew it too.”
Simultaneously, Aaron was having a long battle with addiction. He began consuming drugs at the age of 12. Angel described his issues, his diagnoses of bipolar and schizophrenia disorders. She stated that during that time, his behavior became increasingly alarming. While taking account of the situation, Angel and their older brother Nick took drastic measures. they obtained a restraining order against him to have his firearms confiscated. And=gel tearfully said
“I had to protect him from himself,”
Despite her efforts, she felt unable to save him.
“I couldn’t save him. It wasn’t my responsibility to save him but I tried,” She said
Because Aaron was found dead on November 5, 2022, at his home in California.
