Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has admitted that the most difficult film of his career was the 2005 comedy blockbuster ‘Garam Masala’.
In an interview, Akshay discussed the obstacles he had throughout the film’s development. According to Indian media sources, he explicitly cited filmmaker Priyadarshan’s preference for long takes as a major impediment. Akshay Kumar remarked,
“I was often out of breath during the shoots; it felt like performing in a theatre production.”
The actor portrayed three different roles, each of which required unique facial expressions and timing, adding to the complexity of his performance.
The director’s strategy of capturing many character interactions in a single take made the task even more difficult. Akshay stated that some takes lasted up to ten minutes, making them more demanding than standard action or dancing scenes.
‘Garam Masala’ revolves around Akshay’s character, ‘Mac’, who juggles relationships with numerous women at once, only to be found by his friend ‘Sam’ (played by John Abraham). The film also stars
- Paresh Rawal
- Rimi Sen
- Neha Dhupia
- Rajpal Yadav
