“Thank you all so much for the amazing birthday wishes. I’m truly blessed to know so many wonderful human beings,” Leone wrote. “I might as well take advantage of this day and give all of the Terrifier fans a little present in return – the script for Terrifier 4 is underway and it is shaping up to be the most epic, horrifying, thrilling, emotional and satisfying conclusion to the Terrifier saga.
“I’ve personally never been so excited to see one of my own scripts translate to the screen like this one.”
A final chapter – And a long-awaited answer
While Leone’s statement suggests that Terrifier 4 may be the final chapter in the franchise, he also teased that it will finally answer the biggest question horror fans have been asking for years—who, or what, is art the clown?
Since his debut, the nightmarish villain—portrayed by David Howard Thornton—has remained an enigma. Unlike traditional horror antagonists, Art possesses supernatural powers, yet his origins and motives have remained a mystery. Throughout the films, brief glimpses of a hellish underworld beneath the Miles County fairground have hinted at a deeper lore, but fans have yet to receive any concrete explanations.
What we know so far
The shocking ending of Terrifier 3 left audiences with even more questions. The film saw Sienna (Lauren LaVera) fatally wound Art using her enchanted sword, while her niece Gabbie (Antonella Rose) vanished into the abyss. As Sienna vowed to find her, the film hinted at an even darker, more twisted journey ahead.
