The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to refurbish the three parts of stadiums in
- Lahore
- Karachi
- Rawalpindi
Although it wasn’t a requirement by the ICC – International Cricket Council for the purpose of hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy.
“We need to upgrade our stadiums to match international standards, although the ICC’s delegation, which inspected the facilities in Pakistan, confirmed that all stadiums were suitable for hosting matches,” the spokesman said on Thursday.
The ICC’s delegation inspected Gaddafi Stadium (Lahore), National Stadium (Karachi), and Pindi Stadium (Rawalpindi) and found them fit to host a tournament.
The cost of refurbishment and construction will be around about 3-4 billion rupees.
There is a belief that Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of PCB, prefers building projects, which is consistent with his time as Punjab’s caretaker chief minister.
New pavilions were built at Gaddafi Stadium last year, and the National Stadium received a billion rupee renovation from 2016 to 2017.
