Renowned osteopath Torben Hersborg, 63, who boasts an illustrious clientele including tennis champion Caroline Wozniacki, actress Anna Friel, and Olympic sprinter Yohan Blake, is facing jail time after pleading guilty to spying on female university students as they undressed.
Hersborg, who runs the prestigious Central London Osteopathy and Sports Clinic in Old Street, central London, was caught by police outside a student halls of residence in Islington, north London, in December. He admitted to three counts of voyeurism at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was remanded in custody until his sentencing on January 9.
Disturbing details emerge
The court heard that Hersborg had been engaging in illicit activities for at least four years, capturing over 60 videos of women in compromising situations. When apprehended, he was found with a camera, a telescope, and was chillingly dressed in black gloves, with the back seat of his car covered in black bin liners.
Prosecutor Zahid Hussain described how Hersborg had been seen lurking in his “distinctive” car on multiple occasions near the university residence. It was his repeated presence that raised suspicions, ultimately leading to his arrest.
Deputy District Judge Rhys Rosser highlighted the premeditated nature of Hersborg’s actions, noting, “You had a camera with tape over the lens and a telescope. While sitting in the rear of your vehicle, you were wearing black gloves, with black bin liners on the seat.”
Police investigate wider activities
During the arrest, a search of Hersborg’s home in Wapping, east London, uncovered extensive digital equipment and storage devices. Authorities fear the case may be “the tip of the iceberg,” with evidence suggesting similar activities stretching back years.
Detectives are also investigating the possibility of an accomplice, who is suspected of colluding with Hersborg to spy on the students.

He has treated elite athletes and celebrities, including Italian Serie A football team Brescia and the Danish Tennis Federation. The Danish national, who moved to the UK in 1984, has lived in east London for the past 31 years with his wife and 21-year-old daughter. He and his wife co-run the Central London Osteopathy and Sports Clinic, which markets itself as “trusted by Olympic champions.”
