The Economic and Commercial Commission (ECC) is ready to okay a $2. $58 million package to pay out to families of Chinese workers who perished in an unfortunate incident at a construction site. In 2020, the program was linked to the deaths of 12 Chinese migrants constructing a crucial infrastructural project.
In recent months, the ECC has been looking at the proposal, and it is expected that the compensation plan will be approved soon. It is seen as a way of drawing the curtain by those who will contribute $200,000 each in compensating the families of the deceased employees for their loss.
At the moment, the Chinese government is fully participating in the bilateral negotiation with the ECC in a bid to secure a decent compensation package. The Chinese ambassador to the country has appreciated the efforts put by the ECC in addressing the issue and has assured the ECC that the Chinese government will go further to ensure that its relationship with the ECC is improved.
It is believed that the ratification of the compensation package will benefit the two nations, especially in the context of the current cooperation and trade relations. This move by the ECC is considered to have opened a positive and constructive approach to all the foreigners working in the nation.
