Boston celebrated the America’s 28th birthday. They arranged a flag-raising ceremony with the parade which begins at 9 am at City Hall Plaza. The parade routed from City Hall to the Old State House with a stop at Granary Burial ground, where wreaths were laid on the graves of patriots.
Afterwards, the event of reading of the Declaration of Independence was held at the Old State House balcony at 10 am. The declaration was read by the Captain Commanding of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, recreating the original public reading on July 18, 1776.
The celebrations were deeply connected with Boston’s historical significance in the American Revolution, particularly the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence.
The day continued with the POPS Concert and Fireworks, the concert started at 8:30 pm at Hatch Shell on the Esplanade. This was conducted by Keith Lockhart and the performances were done by Rachel Platten, Rhiannon Giddens, Indigo Girls, and Rita Moreno.
There were some tourist activities as well, which provided educational experiences about Boston’s revolutionary history, appealing to both locals and visitors.
