A 56-year-old mother, Tracey Ellis, of 4 from Newcastle upon Tyne, is in a coma in a Spanish hospital after falling ill on holiday. She was lonely in Tenerife when she started experiencing powerful stomach aches and was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. Despite being migrated to a private hospital, her condition worsened more and more, and she was placed on life-support.
Her family was not aware of her hospitalization until she contacted them herself on June 24, and they have since been struggling to cope with the large outstanding treatment bill, which her travel insurance did not cover. The hospital scheduled a £5,000 payment, and later an additional £10,000 deposit, which the family couldn’t pay, leading to her move to a state hospital.
The family has arranged a GoFundMe page to increase funds for her medical expenses, which have now risen to £30,000. They are also trying to arrange transport to bring her back to the UK if her condition improves. Tracey’s children, Connor, Curtis, Grant, and Amy, are by her side and are prepared to get her the care she needs.
Acute pancreatitis is a condition where the pancreas becomes inflamed, and in severe cases, can lead to serious complications, as in Tracey’s case. The family is now facing problems with time to raise funds for her treatment and transport her back to the UK. They are stimulating anyone who can help to donate to their GoFundMe page.
The family is overjoyed by the kindness of strangers and is pleased for any help they can receive. They want to enhance Tracey’s recovery and are pleading for help to cover the outstanding medical bill.
