Many mosques have been burnt down across the country in the recent past, but Muslims have not relented in their endeavor to offer their Friday prayers. Lately, there have been so many cases of mosque demolitions, which have, indeed, sparked a lot of protests and anger. However, people are not discouraged and pray in their mosques every Friday.
For example, the demolition of a mosque in Barabanki immediately resulted in arrests and people’s fear, but Muslims continue to pray Friday prayers. Equally, in other areas of the country, mosques have either been closed or even pulled down, and yet Muslims have been able to look for other places to carry out their prayers.
Enduring a tough life, it is evident that Muslims are determined to practice their faith in the face of hardships. It is how one Muslim leader put it, “Friday prayers are essential in our faith; we cannot allow the attackers to deny us this right by demolishing our mosques.
As observed earlier, the efforts by the authorities to bar Muslims from assembling for Friday prayers have been countered and resisted. Occasionally, the police have had to resort to force to break up crowds. Still, Muslims have remained steadfast in their prayers.
The killing of worshippers inside mosques and the banning of Friday prayers is a clear violation of rights to worship and freedom. As the world watches, the strength of Muslims will be the only thing that will define this problem in this global world.
