Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has condemned recent remarks made by certain individuals targeting a specific community, emphasizing that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) strongly opposes such language. His comments come in the wake of controversial statements made by BJP MLA Nitesh Rane, who was recently seen in a video urging people to conduct business transactions exclusively with Hindus.
Rane, the Kankavali MLA and son of former Union Minister Narayan Rane, had previously attracted criticism for his threats against Muslims protesting comments made by Nashik-based spiritual leader Ramgiri Maharaj.
Speaking to a gathering in Chakan on Thursday, Pawar addressed the issue directly, stating, “Today, certain individuals from a political party use denigrating language targeting a particular community and religion. We do not support such language and we strongly oppose it. This kind of objectionable language creates a rift in society.”
Pawar urged the public not to let emotions influence their voting decisions and asked for their support, assuring them of his party’s commitment to ethical conduct. “You gave love and support to some till today. Now give the same to us for some days. We will not do anything wrong,” he told the crowd.
In a personal note, Pawar also shared his own experiences, revealing that despite his long tenure in public life spanning 34 years, he has never received awards for best speech or best parliamentarian.
