A significant development is that Nitish Kumar, chief of Janata Dal(United) (JDU), hinted at the support to be given by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader, Chandrababu Naidu for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s re-election for the third time.
It comes after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clinched 240 seats in Lok Sabha but fell short of a majority. BJP would now have to depend on its alliances to form a government.
On arrival in Delhi for the NDA meeting, Nitish Kumar said they would form a government. These sentiments were echoed by JDU leader KC Tyagi’, who indicated that the BJP would fully back Nitish Kumar as far as JDU leadership is concerned.
On the other hand, Chandrababu Naidu backed the NDA in her journey towards Delhi. They are both key allies of the BJP that significantly contributed to its win.The JDU and TDP have proposed two senior leaders for each new cabinet.
Thus far, Lalan Singh and Ram Nath Thakur are the two names the JDU of Nitish Kumar has forwarded, while TDP’s Chandrababu Naidu is likely to get four different ministries in the government. It will not take long before the allocation of these ministries takes place.
The BJP needs the backing of both Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu so that it can manage to create a solid form of government. The duo have a significant following in their respective states and play vital roles of influence.
Besides this, these two will enable this party to sustain her regional equilibrium, therefore enabling formations within it a representation aimed at reflecting multiculturalism inherent in this nation.
