India, May 25, 2024- Many people have recently learned about a Pashtun leader thanks to Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India. Modi’s statement that he pointed to a Pashtun leader during his speech raised public interest in this ethnicity and its historical and cultural background.
The Pashtuns or Pakhtuns or Pathans are an Iranic ethnic group belonging to the northwestern part of Pakistan and the Southern part of Afghanistan. They have existed for centuries, and their earliest references can be dated back to historical records, including the Rigveda and Histories by Herodotus as belonging to the Indus Valley civilization.
Modi’s acknowledgment is a reminder of an ancient and organic bond between India and the Pashtuns. Including leaders like Abdul Ghaffar Khan, who fought the Indian independence movement actively with Gandhi, also shows history and role of Pashtuns.
The Pashtun people have been culturally depicted as very hardworking and also very brave and cultured. They have their cultural behavior, their moral code of conduct is known as Pashtun wali, and their history makes them quite an interesting subject to look forward to.
As there has been more emphasis on the history of Pashtuns, more information has been discovered about who they are, their contribution to political history, and their history. This mention of Modi contributes to the continuation of the research of the largely untold and relatively unknown history and accomplishments of the Pashtun people, which in turn will illuminate a previously relatively unknown but quite rich and colourful history.
