Asif Ali Zardari, the president of the PPP, presided over the meeting, which took place at Bilawal House.
The meeting was attended by notable figures, including:
- Saleem Haider
- Former Prime Minister Pervaiz Ashraf
- Qamar Zaman Kaira
- Syed Hassan Murtaza
Significant Discussion Points:
A lot of attention was paid to internal party restructuring in Punjab. The status of relations with the ruling PML-N was discussed during the discussion. There were talks on strengthening relationships and resolving current difficulties, even though specific issues were not discussed in detail.
Shehzad Cheema, the Punjab Information Secretary, informed the media, stressing that organizational issues were the main focus of the discussion.
President Zardari gave the attendees his word that the issues facing the nation and the party would be resolved quickly.
The party did not tackle the trivial issue of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s failure to welcome President Zardari at the Lahore airport.
Speaking about the recent ruling permitting a top intelligence agency to listen in on phone conversations, Mr. Cheema stated that the formerly unlawful behavior is now governed by law.
He did, however, restate the PPP’s steadfast opposition to listening in on people’s phone calls.
