The need of tight coordination between the federal and provincial governments in preserving peace and security throughout the holy month of Muharram has been underscored by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
He emphasized the importance of organizations like the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) in facilitating the prompt flow of intelligence and information to both federal and local authorities during a cabinet meeting in Islamabad.
During this delicate time, the PM emphasized how important it is to promote harmony and national unity.
Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed that significant structural changes are required to steer the nation in the proper path. As part of this reform, he said that he would personally supervise the process of right-sizing and downsizing in government sectors.
He also mentioned that the Public Works Department (PWD) would be completely closed and that an alternative system had been found.
The Ministry of Commerce was assigned the responsibility of formulating a strategy to attain the sixty billion dollar export objective. The Prime Minister also announced plans to raise IT exports to $25 billion over the course of the following five years.
Shehbaz Sharif announced the removal of fifty billion rupees from the development budget in order to help customers who used up to 200 units of power for a three-month period. He noted the need to fix leakages, especially the twelve hundred billion rupees at Karachi Port, and underlined the necessity of creating significant budgetary space through further measures.
The prime minister gave the cabinet a briefing on his recent travels to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, offering his observations and learnings from the visits.
