Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has sharply attacked the Supreme Court’s judgment on the PTI’s reserved seats, calling it “the darkest day in Pakistan’s history.”
During a press conference in Lahore, Bukhari accused the ruling of providing relief to former Prime Minister Imran Khan, citing prior leniencies granted to military rulers such as former President Gen (retired) Pervez Musharraf under Article 63(a).
“Yesterday it was said that there is a lot of interference by agencies and there was trouble surviving,” Bukhari said
She asserted that actual agency meddling results in incidents such as the Panama leaks and the arrest of family members in front of one another. Bukhari challenged the decision’s impartiality, saying that it was predetermined. She cited former ministers Fawad Chaudhry and Miftah Ismail’s comments regarding the ruling clearing the door for re-election, as well as Shahzad Akbar’s tweet from the day before, which predicted the verdict’s 8-5 majority.
Bukhari said that the Supreme Court addressed PTI’s legal errors.
“Who said a day ago that the decision will be announced with an 8-5 majority?”
She expressed constitutional concerns, particularly about floor crossing, stating, “It is clear that floor crossing cannot be done. Yesterday they allowed constitutional floor crossing to join PTI,”
