Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi mainly blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ongoing crisis in Manipur. The entire state is experiencing peace disruption through tribal conflict involving the Meitei and Kuki communities in which many people were killed, and several others rendered homeless.
People have accused Modi of not speaking out for the issue and not doing enough to help in tackling the problem that affects the state currently. He has also blamed the BJP government for not offering appropriate and adequate support in terms of BPL cards, jobs or houses to the displaced families.
The Congress leader has urged the Prime Minister to visit Manipur and see the reality for himself. He has also urged the mobilization of more security forces to prevent acts of violence and protect the citizens.
Gandhi has also criticized the ability of the state government to tackle the disaster. He has also blamed the BJP led government in Manipur for their inability to restore law and order and for facilitating the act of violence.
The Congress leader has also voiced his disappointment in media as he accused it of favouring one side of the crisis. He has claimed the media has been lacking in portraying the level of violence and not addressing issues affecting the concerned societies.
These accusations come at a time when the BJP is under fire for various controversies surrounding the Manipur situation. The party has been accused of not doing enough to ensure that the violence did not occur and of not being concerned enough with the feelings of offended groups.
While the situation in Manipur continues to escalate it remains to be seen as to whether the Prime Minister will take Gandhi’s advice and visit the state. It will affect the upcoming election results based on the BJP, too.
