Pakistan, May 29, 2024: The Pakistani government’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) intends to validate a $2.58 million compensation package intended for Chinese employees slain during a terrorist raid in Besham, a locality in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
On the Karakoram Highway of the Bisham district, an explosives-laden vehicle hit a Chinese worker carrying a bus in July 2023. This attack caused the death of thirteen citizens of China, as well as four from Pakistan.
The proposed compensation package is designed to help the families of deceased Chinese workers in financial terms. This move comes in line with the Pakistani administration’s strategy to address concerns raised by China and maintain a strong bond between the two nations.
With these various development projects across the nation, the Pakistani government holds Chinese nationals’ safety in high esteem, as illustrated by the ECC’s approval of a package worth $2.58 million. Affected families will also get enough help, indicating that this is a commitment by the Pakistani administration.
The compensation package approval is a crucial component of Pakistan’s foreign policy agenda. It is anticipated to strengthen the strategic relationship that Pakistan holds with China.
