The company claims family responsibilities, pregnancy, and higher desertion as causes for rejecting employment to wedded women, as quoted by The International News.
Foxconn, a key producer of Apple gadgets, has banned married women from community employment at its flagship smartphone factory in India, per a Reuters inquiry.
This incident disagrees with the principles of manners of the company and the enterprise, as it differentiates on the cause of marital position.
A Reuters inquiry report, broadcasted on Tuesday, announced that Foxconn distinguishes against wedded women by abandoning their employment applications, because of their “greater family responsibilities compared to unmarried counterparts” as the cause.
The report also publicized that the smartphone producer progressively banned married women from job prospects at its major iPhone community plant in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
However, the company explained this by pleading that wedded women have “more issues post-marriage.”
According to the report, this was demonstrated by multiple ex and current workers from over a dozen Foxconn hiring agencies across India, many of whom complained to the news agency about obscurity.
Agents and Foxconn HR mentioned explanations for not employing married women at the factory, including family responsibilities, pregnancy, and higher desertion. Moreover, many stated that the ornaments modelled by married Hindu women could interrupt manufacturing.
Furthermore, the policy of excluding women is not unmodified. Three former Foxconn HR executives told Reuters that the Taiwan-headquartered manufacturer is loosening its policy of not leasing married women during high-manufacturing terms when it encounters delivery deficiencies.
