NTT DATA, a global digital business and IT services firm, announced on Wednesday that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Niveus Solutions, a Karnataka-based cloud engineering company specialising in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services. The acquisition is poised to accelerate NTT DATA’s strategy to expand its cloud capabilities and meet the growing global demand for cloud solutions across various industries. This move will also strengthen NTT DATA’s position as a leading global system integrator for Google Cloud.
While the companies have not disclosed the value of the transaction, it is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be finalised within the next 30 to 60 days.
Once the acquisition is complete, Niveus Solutions will bring a team of 1,000 GCP engineering professionals to NTT DATA, enhancing its Google Cloud Business Unit. These professionals possess deep expertise in GCP native modernisation, data engineering, and artificial intelligence (AI), which will further bolster NTT DATA’s cloud services and solutions. Niveus also brings significant industry knowledge across sectors such as financial services, manufacturing, automotive, retail, and logistics, enabling NTT DATA to deliver specialised industry cloud platform solutions tailored to these fields.
The expanded capabilities will allow NTT DATA to tackle complex client challenges across industries, providing scalable, industry-specific cloud solutions globally. Charlie Li, Head of Cloud and Security Services at NTT DATA, commented on the acquisition: “The acquisition of Niveus Solutions will firmly position us as a leading Google Cloud powerhouse, propelling NTT DATA as one of the world’s largest system integrator partners for Google Cloud.”
He added, “With Niveus Solutions, we are set to redefine possibilities in the AI-driven cloud era, enabling clients to accelerate digital transformations and achieve meaningful business outcomes across industries and geographies.”
NTT DATA has long embraced acquisitions to foster synergies, having acquired over 90 companies worldwide in recent years. Notably, in June, NTT DATA acquired a majority stake in ProvenTech Pvt Ltd, a Hyderabad-based company providing GenAI-driven quality management solutions for the pharma, healthcare, and food industries. In October, the company announced an agreement to acquire Aoop, a ServiceNow implementation leader in Brazil. Last year, NTT DATA also acquired Sapphire, a UK-headquartered provider of digital operations software and services.
This acquisition builds on NTT DATA’s strengthened partnership with Google Cloud, focused on co-innovating data analytics and GenAI solutions for enterprise clients. Through this alliance, both companies aim to deliver cloud-based data and AI solutions tailored for industry-specific needs, further solidifying their leadership in the cloud space.
Suyog Shetty, CEO and co-founder of Niveus Solutions, expressed his excitement about the merger, saying, “Our team’s dedication to advancing digital transformation on Google Cloud, combined with NTT DATA’s extensive reach and capabilities, strongly positions us to bring modern cloud solutions to new markets and expand the boundaries of cloud innovation.”
He further added, “Today’s news accelerates our mission to harness our GCP talent pool globally, tapping into India’s thriving ecosystem of skilled professionals and enhancing our ability to deliver transformative services worldwide.”
Founded in 2013, Niveus Solutions is a bootstrapped cloud engineering services organisation led by Shetty, Rashmi George, Roshan Bava, and Mohsin Khan. The company was born out of the founders’ shared vision of building a world-class cloud engineering services firm. Their experience working at leading companies like Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, and Sapient, coupled with the rich talent pool in the education hubs of Udupi, Manipal, and Mangalore, led them to establish Niveus Solutions.
John Lombard, CEO of NTT DATA Asia Pacific, also commented on the strategic significance of the acquisition: “The Niveus Solutions acquisition significantly advances our Google Cloud partnership and expands our ability to meet the growing demand for AI-powered solutions that drive business growth.”
The acquisition comes at a time when the cloud services market is experiencing explosive growth. According to Gartner Inc., global end-user spending on public cloud services is forecast to reach $679 billion in 2024, with projections to exceed $1 trillion by 2027. The rapid growth of GenAI deployments across organisations is expected to further fuel this demand for cloud services.
NTT DATA’s acquisition of Niveus Solutions positions the company to better serve its clients in the AI-driven cloud era, meeting the increasing demand for transformative and scalable cloud solutions. The acquisition further demonstrates NTT DATA’s commitment to expanding its cloud and AI capabilities, offering innovative solutions to industries around the world.
