OPPO, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has teased its upcoming Reno 13 series, set to launch in its home market on November 25. The company’s official website has revealed key details about the design and specifications of the new phones, providing a first look ahead of their official unveiling. The Reno 13 series will consist of two models: the standard Reno 13 and the more premium Reno 13 Pro, both of which showcase a sleek and modern design.
A bold new design
From the initial product images, it is clear that the Reno 13 series will feature a refined design, with both models incorporating a flat display encased in a boxy metallic frame with rounded edges. This design direction follows a trend seen in many flagship smartphones, offering a more premium and stylish aesthetic.
Both devices will come equipped with a triple-camera array on the back, although the Reno 13 Pro will likely offer a more advanced configuration compared to the standard model. The cameras are housed in a distinctive module, further enhancing the series’ high-end look and feel.
Reno 13 pro: The star of the show
While both models share the same design, the Reno 13 Pro is expected to offer notable upgrades in terms of performance and features. The Pro model will feature a larger 6.78-inch OLED display, boasting a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and gaming. This is a step up from the 6.7-inch FHD+ screen found on the Reno 12 Pro, offering improved colour accuracy and contrast for a more immersive viewing experience.
Under the hood, the Reno 13 Pro will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset, offering improved performance over the previous generation. While the Chinese variant is expected to come with this processor, the Indian version may feature a different chip. The Reno 13 Pro will also run on OPPO’s ColourOS 15, based on Android 15, providing users with a host of customisation options and features.
Enhanced camera capabilities
One of the key highlights of the Reno 13 Pro will be its camera system. The Pro model is expected to feature a 50MP primary sensor, complemented by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a second 50MP telephoto lens, with 3x optical zoom. This impressive setup aims to offer exceptional photography capabilities, allowing users to capture everything from wide-angle shots to detailed close-ups with ease. On the front, the Reno 13 Pro will also come equipped with a 50MP selfie camera, setting a new benchmark for front-facing camera performance in smartphones.
Bigger battery, faster charging
Battery life and charging speeds are set to see significant improvements in the Reno 13 Pro. The device will come with a 5,900mAh battery, a notable upgrade over the 5,000mAh battery in the Reno 12 Pro. This increase in battery capacity should provide users with more longevity, especially during heavy usage.
The Reno 13 Pro will also feature fast charging capabilities, with support for 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. This means that users will be able to charge their devices from 0 to 100% in record time, making it one of the fastest-charging phones in its class. The phone is also expected to feature improved durability with an IP68/IP69 rating, offering protection against both dust and water.
What’s next?
While OPPO has confirmed the November 25 launch in China, the global rollout remains uncertain. The Reno 13 series is expected to make its way to international markets, including India, in early 2025. In India, the series could be introduced with a few variations in terms of specifications, including different processor options tailored to local preferences and market demands.
