The Federal Government has rejected the request of the Punjab Government’s request to suspend social media during Muharram. they proposed banning the six apps from 6th to 11th Muharram, which included Facebook, TikTok, WhatsApp, and other apps.
Moreover, The Federal Government has vowed to ensure foolproof security during Muharram, with the Ministry of Interior directing that security measures be intensified and made more effective. The Punjab Home Ministry has issued the order of SOPS – Standard Operating Procedures for majalis during Muharram and the Ministry of Interior directed the blocking of mobile signals in the areas where the major majalis will take place.
Walk-through gates will be installed, three layers of security will be implemented, entry and exit areas will be predetermined, car packing will be located far away from the venue, and the use of loudspeakers will be restricted.
It is pertinent to mention here that a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee – scheduled to be presided over by Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir – has been convened on July 6 to see the moon of Muharram al-Haram, after which a new Islamic year will be announced.
