Chinese smartphone giant Vivo has launched its highly anticipated X200 series in China, featuring three models: Vivo X200, X200 Pro, and X200 Pro Mini. Powered by MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9400 chipset and sporting cutting-edge camera systems co-engineered with German optics brand Zeiss, the Vivo X200 series is set to make waves in the smartphone market. While the global release timeline remains unconfirmed, the series is expected to launch in India by the end of this year or early 2024.
Key highlights of vivo X200 series
The Vivo X200 series marks the debut of MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9400 processor, showcasing impressive performance enhancements, especially in terms of power efficiency and AI processing. The series introduces a Pro Mini variant, a unique addition that offers premium features in a more compact form.
All three models—X200, X200 Pro, and X200 Pro Mini—feature AMOLED displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 4500 nits. While all models offer excellent display quality, the Pro variants come equipped with Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) technology, allowing for dynamic refresh rate adjustments based on usage, further enhancing power efficiency.
The series also offers up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage, ensuring swift multitasking and ample space for data storage. The Vivo X200 Pro goes a step further with an exclusive 1TB variant featuring satellite communication, utilizing LPDDR5X Ultra Pro RAM for even faster performance.
Camera systems: Zeiss collaboration and high-end sensors
One of the standout features of the Vivo X200 series is its camera setup, which benefits from Zeiss’s optical expertise. The primary camera on all three models is a 50MP Sony LYT-818 sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), ensuring crisp, stable shots. This is complemented by a 50MP ultra-wide camera using Samsung’s JN1 sensor.
The real differentiation lies in the telephoto cameras. The Vivo X200 Pro features a remarkable 200MP telephoto sensor (3.7x zoom), making it one of the highest-resolution telephoto sensors in the market. In comparison, the X200 and X200 Pro Mini feature a 50MP telephoto sensor with 3x zoom, which is still an impressive offering for most users. For selfies, all models come with a 32MP front-facing camera, ensuring high-quality self-portraits and video calls.
Battery life and charging capabilities
The Vivo X200 series also impresses in terms of battery life, with each model equipped with high-capacity batteries to meet the needs of power users. The X200 is powered by a 5800mAh battery, while the X200 Pro and Pro Mini models come with 6000mAh and 5700mAh batteries, respectively. All models support 90W fast wired charging, allowing users to charge their devices rapidly.
For wireless charging enthusiasts, the Pro and Pro Mini models also feature 30W wireless charging capabilities, making them even more convenient for on-the-go users. However, the base model lacks this wireless charging support, making it a more traditional option.
