Rafah, June 21, 2024
Despite the recent deadly raid in Rafah, where dozens of civilians were killed, Washington has not backed down from its continuing support of Israel. This strike that was conducted by the Israeli forces led to the burning of a tented area in Rafah that claimed the lives of not less than 45, and many others were left injured.
In a statement, the White House press service condemned deaths, calling it heartbreaking and horrific. Meanwhile, NSC spokesman John Kirby stated that the operation in question is not a large-scale ground operation encroaching upon Biden’s “red line” for future lethal aid deliveries to Ukraine.
Kirby also mentioned that Israel had not unleashed a large-scale ground assault into the city but deliberately targeted attacks.
Lately, the U S administration has raised some concerns over the loss of civilian life but has not given any hints of shifting its stance on the support it offers to Israel.
Kirby said that the U. S. is paying much attention to the probe being conducted by Israel regarding the attack and called on Israel to protect the lives of the civilians in the course of implementing the operations.
It has brought criticism from the whole world, and leaders are concerned about the safety of civilians in the conflict. Nevertheless, the United States has continued to stand by Israel, claiming the war against Hamas and the necessity to avoid a large-scale insurgency in Rafah.
