The shooting incident involving Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, was spectacular and violent, killing one rally attendee, injuring two bystanders, and wounding Trump in the ear. Here’s a synopsis of the main points. On Saturday, the shooting took place at a campaign event.
Trump was shot in the ear, which resulted in severe bleeding. The shooter was dead on the scene. One rally attendee was murdered, while two others were injured.
Secret Service members swarmed Trump, who was briefly kneeling behind the podium.
Trump resurfaced moments later, fist-bumping and mouthing “Fight! Fight! Fight!” before being hustled into a black SUV. The incident is being examined as a possible assassination attempt.
Trump then acknowledged the injuries via his Truth Social platform, mentioning the bleeding.
“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
The Trump posted.
President Joe Biden condemned the violence, emphasizing unity and the need of condemning such actions. Leading Republicans and Democrats have also criticized the violence.
The shooting sparked concerns about the Secret Service’s potential security failings. The incident was the first gunshot of a United States president or major party candidate since Ronald Reagan’s assassination attempt in 1981.
Law enforcement officials have tentatively identified a suspect gunman but have not revealed his identity or motive. Trump was believed to be doing fine following the incident and was on his way to Bedminster, New Jersey, under Secret Service protection.
