Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, declared on Monday that Israel is almost done with its campaign to destroy Hamas’ military infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
According to Reuters, Netanyahu stated, “We are moving closer to the conclusion of the phase of eliminating the terrorist army of Hamas, and there will be a continuation to strike its remnants.”
Younis khan ordered a mass evacuation
In a similar development, the Israeli military has ordered the Palestinian residents of Khan Younis’ eastern part to evacuate in large numbers.
This directive raises the possibility that Israeli forces are getting ready to retake the second-largest city in Gaza, which was the target of an Israeli attack earlier this year.

The exodus suggests that there may have been a regrouping of Hamas nearby. Additionally, Israel stated that it is nearing the end of its attack in the neighboring city of Rafah.
An inquiry is requested over the director of Gaza Hospital’s release.
Amidst these events, Prime Minister Netanyahu has demanded an inquiry into the contentious release of Mohammed Abu Selmia, the Gaza director of Shifa Hospital. His release, which came about without any charges or trial, caused a great deal of controversy in Israeli political circles.
The decision has been criticized by opposition leaders and government ministers alike, who contend that Abu Selmia should have remained in custody because of claims that the hospital was used as a Hamas base.
Netanyahu clarified that the release came about as a result of a rights group’s petition, which raised issues regarding a contentious detention center in southern Israel that has drawn condemnation for alleged abuse and overcrowding.
The decision on who is released is made by security officials based on their professional considerations,” Netanyahu said, and he also demanded an inquiry into the situation.
