LAHORE: During EID Holidays, the Punjab Government has established policies to prohibit all the operations and processes of mechanical and mobile rides (swings, slides, etc.) in amusement parks, anywhere else to detour incidents, and promote security zones.
Many children and other youngsters suffered several bad incidents in previous years due to disastrous functioning and operations of failing mechanical rides. There were reports of bad incidents in amusement parks and riding areas in Multan, Lahore, and some other provinces.
During Eid Holidays and Christian events, many families enjoy their day at an amusement park. Many reports are submitted from parks because of faulty mechanical rides.
The Provincial Intelligence Committee (PIC) considered this affair very seriously. After detailed negotiations, Due to Eid ul Adha, “there shall be a complete ban on the operational/functional use of mechanical rides during the holidays of Eidul Azha, 2024, across Punjab to avoid any untoward incident.”
On Eid days, it is most noticed that mechanical rides malfunction due to crowds and overloaded capacity, resulting in bad accidents. But overall, there are no problem reports from mechanical rides.
Punjab Home Department disseminated the committee’s negotiation to all provincial deputy commissioners, convincing them to prohibit mechanical rides during Eid Days in response to PIC’s call. The deputy commissioners are now responsible for ensuring that no mechanical ride in the province functions during the Eid holidays.
The Home Department is also influencing the local government secretary, including all divisional commissioners, RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs in the province, to secure and prohibit all mechanical rides during the Eid holidays, sending messages through letters.
The officer said the department would allocate all the official notifications to provide a guarantee that all policies have been implemented.
