Central bank declares two days vacation because of Ashura next week, reported in The Geo News.
Two-day public vacations have been declared for banks on the event of Ashura — 9th and 10th Muharram, 1446 AH — existing on July 16 and 17, 2024.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) declared days of bank workings shut down because of Ashura this month.
The federal government declared a two-day public holiday for Muharram 9 and 10 a day before.
“The Prime Minister of Pakistan is content to announce 16th and 17th July 2024 (Tuesday and Wednesday) as public holidays on the occurrence of Ashura (9th & 10th Moharram 1446 AH),” a notice ordered by the Cabinet Division expressed.
Muslims from all over the world will honour the Ashura with despair and grief.
Regarding this, the administration also accepted the employment of the Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces (CAF) from all over the country as a safety action during Muharram.
The interior ministry notification expressed that “The details of troop deployment, which will be enforced for an indefinite period, will be finalised with the authorities concerned, including the government of Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Islamabad.”
Moreover, the notice expressed: “The date of de-requisitioning of said deployment will be decided subsequently after mutual consultation among all stakeholders.”
