Dhaka, Bangladesh – May 23, 2024 : To handle the flood of illegal migration and the challenges associated with this, the United Kingdom and Bangladesh signed a bilateral agreement to enhance cooperation and coordination related to migration.
The agreement aimed to combat illegal migrant and human trafficking and impose legal ways for migration. Both parties have agreed to share relevant information and intelligence to observe and identify illegal migration networks.
Both parties have designed a framework to implement collaborative efforts to enhance the capacity of Government control. From law enforcement agencies, border management authorities, and officers who are engaged in identifying and preventing irregular migration.
The vision is to streamline the process for Bangladesh’s people who want to migrate to the UK for their own reasons such as study, job, and business. This will help to restrict risk and ban migrant routes. The agreement is based on a mechanism to facilitate safe pathways to make them reintegrate into their home and prevent them from illegally residing in any country.
This decision was taken at the last stage when the UK and Bangladesh were not able to handle the complexity associated with migrants. Ensure to maintain human rights, and prevent them from human trafficking and international obligations.
The agreement was followed by a mutual concern signature with both parties nations to show an optimistic approach to the framework which has been designed to address migration concerns. Emphasize the importance and urgency of this collaborative approach based on mutual concern.
Agreement proves the broader aspects of how countries are recognizing and following international cooperation to address illegal migration mainly where mobility is increased and interconnectedness.
This implementation will be closely observed and monitored by stakeholders with the expectation to reduce illegal migration, ensure safety, and manage migrant return to home.
